Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Marwan Khalifeh uses the Vaser® Ultrasound Liposuction System to trim stubborn areas of fat from the body and provide patients with a less invasive form of surgery. The Vaser® System allows Dr. Khalifeh to work with finesse in troublesome areas.
Dr. Khalifeh has locations in both Chevy Chase, Maryland, and Frederick, Maryland, with easy access to all Northern Virginia and metro Washington, D.C. areas. A consultation with Dr. Khalifeh will help to decide what procedures are best for your particular situation. The best candidates for Vaser® Liposuction are men and women who have had trouble in the past losing weight and toning specific areas of the body through exercise alone. For men and women frustrated with a problem area, Vaser® offers a solution for the successful treatment of all varieties of fatty tissue.
In addition to the effective removal of unwanted fat and aesthetically pleasing results, Vaser® has other benefits. Blood loss is reduced using this method and skin has been shown to retract more successfully. Fat removed during the procedure may be used effectively for fat relocation procedures to enhance other areas of the body such as the breasts, buttocks, and face. Vaser® Ultrasound Liposuction and fat grafting treatments performed simultaneously are often referred to as Vaser Hi Def. These fat cells are so effective for further treatments because, during their removal, almost all of the cells remain intact.
Vaser® is performed by Dr. Khalifeh at Sibley Memorial Hospital where he holds priveleges. The surgery involves a one to three hour procedure performed under general anesthesia. Incision sites vary depending on the area to be treated but are generally small and inconspicuous. The procedure breaks up fatty tissue using a tumescent fluid which loosens the troublesome fat cells from one another. The excess fat is then gently removed. Because it is less invasive, yet another benefit of the treatment is the quick recovery time. There are no stitches to be removed using this method, and patients may return to work in about three to five days. Exercise and other physically taxing activities may be performed after approximately two weeks. As with any surgery, there is a risk for complications to occur and these may include bleeding infection, contour irregularity, skin sloughing, or necrosis.
